About us

Turning a past into a future!

We show people there is a way to build a better future – for themselves and those they care about – and help them create this through support, advice and training. We raise awareness of their situation and fight their corner to ensure long term changes are put in place.

Over the past 60 years, we have adapted to always be there for people who fall through the gaps. Today we help people held back by a combination of issues;

  • Help for vulnerable young people involved in, or at risk of, criminal exploitation
  • Services helping adults and young people facing unemployment and poverty
  • Prison and community based support for people in the criminal justice system
  • Specialist support for adults facing complex barriers e.g. addiction, abuse, homelessness, mental ill-health
  • Help for vulnerable women and families

What started as a small charity anchored in a South London community is now an award-winning social justice charity working on the frontline in schools, prisons, hospitals and communities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Last year we supported 15,875 people turn their pasts into positive futures.

Lived experience is at the heart of our service delivery. Over 40% of our staff have experience of the criminal justice system. They can say “I’ve been there” and it’s this authenticity combined with their professional expertise that accelerates the pace of progress and inspires resilience. Our services offer real value for money – an £8.54 saving is made to the taxpayer for every £1 invested in our services.
