My Story

This bike ride is the furthest I have ever ridden! I am training hard, but pretty nervous, I am not a regular cyclist but relish a challenge. I am an occupational therapist in a neuro team and my friend and work colleague Becky was diagnosed with ocular melanoma last September which is an eye cancer.  Becky is a talented physiotherapist and has been able to continue working following radical treatment.  This was the first time as a Team we had heard of this type of cancer.  We know  how important it was for Becky to have the support of this charity. Becky has asked that if we fundraise it should be for OcuMel UK.

My ride is for Becky and the charity that has supported her at this very difficult time. A description of OcuMel UK's work is below.

OculMel UK is a registered charity run by eye cancer patients and family members. We provide support for anyone affected by eye cancer. We aim to give clear and accurate information to help you make the life choices that are right for you. Our friendly staff and volunteers understand how isolating it can be when you or your loved one are diagnosed with a rare cancer. We are here for you wherever you are in your eye cancer journey. We raise awareness of eye cancer amongst the public and work with medical professionals to increase their knowledge.
